The Oakleaf Knights''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 29-16 to Madison County. Despite 62 more yards than Madison County, Oakleaf couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Despite the defeat, Oakleaf saw an underclassman step up: Jordin Price picked up 122 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Michael Conner, III also helped out as he racked up 110 receiving yards.
Jason Mcdaniel continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Madison County, rushing for 179 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Lj Crumity made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Oakleaf's loss was their fourth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-3 Buchholz (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 65.1% over those games). As for Madison County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakleaf will square off against Bartram Trail at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Madison County, they will head out on the road to face off against Chiefland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chiefland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Madison County is ranked 53rd).
