Columbiana has gone a perfect 10-0 against Southern recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Clippers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Columbiana is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Columbiana had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Beaver Local on Thursday. The Clippers put the hurt on the Beavers with a sharp 11-2 win. The Clippers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11th (when they won 11-0).

Avery Young was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Columbiana: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-7 otherwise.
In other batting news, Max Conway was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Columbiana's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Inboden, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Columbiana kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Southern ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Wellsville 6-5. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Indians as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Zac Mayfield was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Brody Brown was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Columbiana's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Southern, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Columbiana has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Southern struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Columbiana took their victory against Southern in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Do the Clippers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
