The Lafayette Fighting Irish will head out on the road to face off against the Savannah Savages at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lafayette is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Lafayette took a serious blow against Maryville, falling 71-14. While losing is never fun, Lafayette can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 246th, while Maryville is ranked 22nd).
Meanwhile, Savannah was the victim of a tough 34-13 loss at the hands of St. Pius X on Friday. Savannah has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Savannah's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cade Chappell, who rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown, and Kaden Calloway who gained 102 total yards and a touchdown. Chappell really tore up the turf during one magnificent 84-yard run.
Even if they lost, Savannah's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Kegan Bechtold and his two sacks.
The losses dropped Lafayette to 1-8 and Savannah to 6-3.
Lafayette was taken down by Savannah 50-0 in their previous meeting back in September. Can Lafayette avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
