The Lugoff-Elgin Demons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 67-41 defeat at the hands of Ridge View. Lugoff-Elgin has not had much luck with Ridge View recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite the loss, Lugoff-Elgin had strong showings from Teryn Hobson, who scored 15 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds, and Jillian Rush, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Rush hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games.
Ridge View's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anasia Harvey, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Harvey hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Destiny Drakeford, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds.
Lugoff-Elgin bumped their record down to 3-13 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Ridge View, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Lugoff-Elgin will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Westwood at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Westwood presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lugoff-Elgin in South Carolina (Westwood is ranked 40th, while Lugoff-Elgin is ranked 155th). As for Ridge View, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Irmo at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Irmo is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
