The Granada Matadors will head out on the road to square off against the Castro Valley Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Granada lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Dougherty Valley, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. The Matadors put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 21-2 win on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Matadors.
Kaitlyn Cannella made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cannella was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

Granada always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Castro Valley got themselves on the board against Berkeley on Wednesday, but Berkeley never followed suit. They blew past the Yellowjackets 9-0.
Like Granada, Castro Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Alanys Robertson. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Robertson has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Giselle De Casas, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Alicya Robertson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Granada now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Castro Valley, their record is now 13-3.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Granada hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Castro Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .380. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Granada beat Castro Valley 5-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Matadors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
