The Grace Christian Crusaders entered their tilt with the South Wake Sabres with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Grace Christian walked away with a 75-67 win over the Sabres on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Grace Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jimmy Zimmerman, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Ma'Kyi Butler was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why South Wake lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jacob Webb. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with three steals. Webb is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Jones, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Grace Christian pushed their record up to 16-11 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.0 points per game. As for South Wake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grace Christian will challenge the Mighty Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Carolina (Mount Zion Christian Academy is ranked 202nd, while the Crusaders are ranked 191st). South Wake will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Cardinals at 3:30 p.m. on February 3rd.
