Given Sun Prairie West's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Middleton is ranked 113th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Chris Davis Jr, who scored 42 points along with three steals. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Sun Prairie West's points. Tavian Crawford was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Vel Phillips Memorial pushed their score all the way to 58 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 71-58 to Middleton.
Sun Prairie West's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. As for Vel Phillips Memorial, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Sun Prairie West strolled past Vel Phillips Memorial in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 69-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sun Prairie West since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
