The Paradise Valley Trojans were the 33-31 winner over the Kellis Cougars when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Paradise Valley suffered a rough 62-41 loss at the hands of Kellis on Tuesday. Paradise Valley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Paradise Valley still got an impressive performance from Emilee Resendez, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Resendez has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Neha Patel was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
It was another big night for Shanielle Mallory, who scored 22 points along with six assists and six rebounds for Kellis. The contest was Mallory's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Wolfe, who scored 18 points.
Paradise Valley's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Kellis, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Paradise Valley will take on Casa Grande at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Casa Grande is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Kellis, they will head out on the road to face off against Ironwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ironwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 218th, while Kellis is ranked 65th).
