East Grand Forks is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the Thief River Falls Prowlers at 4:00 p.m. Thief River Falls took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on East Grand Forks, who comes in off a win.
On Friday, East Grand Forks made easy work of Roseau and carried off a 9-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Green Wave in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won five in a row.
Rylee Hams made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Hams was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Carson McDonald was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Cole Schmiedeberg was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Thief River Falls didn't have quite enough to beat Detroit Lakes on Friday and fell 4-3. The loss was the Prowlers' first of the season.
Thief River Falls also got a good showing from Jaxon Hams, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Hams gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Thief River Falls saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jameson Hurst, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
East Grand Forks' win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Thief River Falls, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
East Grand Forks came up short against Thief River Falls in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 7-4. Can the Green Wave avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
