The Lafayette Christian Academy Knights will play host again and welcome the McDonogh 35 Roneagles, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
With a playoff game on the line, Lafayette Christian Academy rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past Peabody 54-20 at home. Given Lafayette Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Peabody is ranked 104th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lafayette Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brennan Walker led the charge by picking up 113 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Walker's longest reception was for an incredible 99 yards. Another player making a difference was Jujuan Johnson, who threw for 329 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 16.5 yards per attempt.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Peabody to a paltry 217 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Lafayette Christian Academy's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Sandy Lewis and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, McDonogh 35 came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by St. Louis Catholic on the road to the tune of 53-23. With McDonogh 35 ahead 27-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Lafayette Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for McDonogh 35, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Lafayette Christian Academy against McDonogh 35 when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 44-8 win.
