The Whittell Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 65-21 loss at the hands of Mineral County. Whittell was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-10.
Despite the loss, Whittell still got an impressive performance from Zander Lezama-Demazo, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
DeVayne Isom continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mineral County, scoring 13 points along with five assists and three steals. Isom has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Triston Jones, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Whittell's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.3 points per game. As for Mineral County, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Coincidentally, Whittell and Mineral County will both be playing Smith Valley the next time they take the court. Whittell will host Smith Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Mineral County will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
