The Eureka Loggers pushed their score all the way to 84 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Fortuna 88-84. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Thursday (55), Eureka still had to take the loss.
Eureka's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Elijah Estrada, who scored 27 points, and Jahmil Rippy who scored 21 points along with 6 assists and 5 steals. The game was Estrada's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Michael Jewell, who scored 8 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Eureka and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Fortuna, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Eureka will be playing at home against Red Bluff at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Red Bluff will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 668th, while Eureka is ranked 279th). Fortuna is on the road again on Saturday and play against McKinleyville at 11:30 a.m. on December 9th. Hopefully McKinleyville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday.
