Goshen is 0-3 against the Kingsmen since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Goshen RedHawks will take on the Penn Kingsmen at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Goshen scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They came out on top against Mishawaka by a score of 60-50. The win was just what Goshen needed coming off of a 59-27 defeat in their prior matchup.
Kyra Hill continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaelyn Marcum, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Penn had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past Concord 51-19 on the road on Tuesday. Penn has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 20 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Lauren Walsh, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals. She hasn't dropped below four steals for three straight games. Kristlynn Minor was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Goshen now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Penn, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-6.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Goshen have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Penn struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Goshen came up short against the Kingsmen when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 38-26. Can Goshen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
