Jack Arrington was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has become a key player for HCYA: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 8-9-2 otherwise. Arrington was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Tyde Tracy was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. HCYA is undefeated when Tracy posts two or more runs, but 7-10-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Donovan Surovik, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI.
Six must be Calhoun's lucky number: they beat St. Joseph with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Sandcrabs beat the Flyers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-3.
The team relied heavily on Ethen Ramirez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Cayson Laredo, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
HCYA's record now sits at 12-10-2. As for Calhoun, they now have a winning record of 8-7-3.
HCYA's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. HCYA has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Calhoun, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will HCYA continue to outrun the ball?
