The Mae Jemison Jaguars on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Lawrence County Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th.
Mae Jemison suffered their biggest loss since November 28, 2023 on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Hazel Green, falling 78-33. While losing is never fun, Mae Jemison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Hazel Green is ranked second).
Meanwhile, Lawrence County's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They took down Russellville 59-44.
Lawrence County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alivia Terry, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Boyll, who scored 17 points.
Mae Jemison's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-8. As for Lawrence County, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-13.
Mae Jemison came up short against Lawrence County in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 50-44. Can Mae Jemison avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
