After flying high against the Jupiter Christian Eagles last Thursday, the Westwood Panthers came back down to earth. Westwood fell 58-45 to Pine on Monday. Westwood was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pine apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Westwood's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Crutchfield, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds. Crutchfield has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addly Osne, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Westwood's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Pine, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westwood won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Okeechobee at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Okeechobee focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Saturday. Pine won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Dreyfoos School of the Arts at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th.
