They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-43 win over Carmel. The victory was some much needed relief for the Giants as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Ben Davis found their leader in sophomore Shania Curry, who went 8 of 11 on her way to 20 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubri Ingram, who posted ten points.
Ben Davis was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Meanwhile, Avon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-56 heartbreaker at the hands of Bloomington South. The contest was a 24-24 toss-up at halftime, but the Orioles couldn't quite close it out.
Ben Davis will have to contain Aniah Smith as she made an impact in Avon's last game. She had 16 points along with eight steals and six assists. Another player making a difference was Kaylii Williams, who scored ten points.
Ben Davis pushed their record up to 12-11 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Avon, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Ben Davis has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Avon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
