West Forsyth (Cumming, Ga.) snapped
Johns Creek (Ga.)'s 5-game winning streak, with a 37-16 victory on Saturday.
The Gladiators pulled ahead on a
Skye Overton touchdown run, and subsequently went into halftime leading 16-10. The Wolverines scored the winning points with a
A.J. Erdely touchdown run that came in the third quarter.
With the win West Forsyth extended its winning streak to six games. WF defeated the Knights 40-6 last week.
Erdely was the top performer for the Cumming school. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 14 touchdowns on the season.
Chase Solomon played well for Johns Creek. The junior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored seven touchdowns on the season.
JC came in allowing just 14.6 points per game this season. The Gladiators struggled against the Wolverines' offense, which entered the game scoring 43.8 points per game. Coming into the game West Forsyth had allowed 21.2 points per game this year. WF held firm on the defensive front, and kept Johns Creek well below the 33.2 points it had been averaging per game.
The loss comes after Johns Creek defeated Chattahoochee 30-16 last week.
In a AAAAAA Region 6 game next week West Forsyth (6-0) takes on North Forsyth, and Johns Creek (5-1) will go up against Lambert also in a AAAAAA Region 6 game.
