Idalia stacked a fifth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 41-17 margin over Bethune. Given Idalia's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Bobcats are ranked 266th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jaylyn Kechter continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Krista Wieser, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Kit Carson beat the Wolverines 41-28 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Kit Carson.
Kit Carson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Payge Booker-rady, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Booker-rady is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Nadaya Buttry was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Idalia is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Kit Carson, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Idalia have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 36.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Kit Carson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Idalia came up short against the Wildcats when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 39-35. Can Idalia avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
