Bayside hasn't had much luck against First Colonial recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Marlins will head out to square off against the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Bayside turned things around against Green Run on Saturday. They blew past the Stallions 13-1.
Barry Farias Jr made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Bayside is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-10 otherwise. Farias Jr was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evan Butler, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Josh Heinrich was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Bayside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, First Colonial entered their tilt with Salem on Tuesday with 14 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 15. They put the hurt on the Sundevils with a sharp 11-1 win. Considering the Patriots have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
First Colonial's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Bayside, their record now sits at 7-11.
Bayside might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from First Colonial when the teams last played back in April. Can the Marlins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
