The Caro Tigers will square off against the Imlay City Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Caro has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Caro will bounce into Friday's match after beating Cass City, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Red Hawks on Thursday.
Landyn Stine spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Max Grice was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
Richmond hit Imlay City with a ten-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans lost 13-1 to the Blue Devils. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Imlay City saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Edson, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Keigan Scott also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Caro is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Imlay City, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Imlay City's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Caro has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. It's a different story for Imlay City, though, as they've only averaged .324. Will they be able to contain Caro's hitters?
