The PikeView Panthers will square off against the James Monroe Mavericks at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
PikeView is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Summers County get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory on Tuesday. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Shelby Maddox made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Bella Delida was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaylie Honaker, who scored two runs while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.
PikeView hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when James Monroe and Graham meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Mavericks were the clear victors by a 19-9 margin over the G-Men. With that victory, the Mavericks brought their scoring average up to 8.2 runs per game.
Peighton Griffith and Chloe Bert did most of the damage at the plate: Griffith went 4-for-6 with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs, while Bert scored three runs while going 4-for-4. Bert also put up three RBI, which were her first of the season. Peyton Street was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
The win made it two in a row for PikeView and bumps their season record up to 5-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.5 runs over those games. As for James Monroe, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. PikeView has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like James Monroe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
PikeView took their victory against James Monroe when the teams last played back in April of 2019 by a conclusive 8-0 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Mavericks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
