Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school girls basketball. The tradition continues to close out the 2024-25 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Jezelle Banks of
Ursuline Academy (Wilmington) is the 2024-25 Delaware MaxPreps Player of the Year, repeating the honor she earned in 2023-24 as a freshman. The 5-foot-8 sophomore point guard led the Raiders to the semifinals of the state tournament.
For the season, Banks averaged 21.7 points, 4.8 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 3.1 steals per game for the 13-10 Raiders.
Banks was the Delaware High School Coaches Association's Player of the Year and is regarded as one of the top five players in the Class of 2027 according to
247Sports. Louisville, Marquette, Maryland, Mississippi, Ohio State, South Carolina and Texas are among the college programs that have extended offers.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released in April.
