The Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Red Devils pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a rough 83-57 defeat at the hands of Holland Patent. Even though they lost, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 51.5 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dylan Donegan, who scored 11 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for him. Eliijah Donegan was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Holland Patent, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vernon-Verona-Sherrill will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Notre Dame at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. As for Holland Patent, they will square off against Camden at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
