The Porter Ridge Pirates fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the North Mecklenburg Vikings on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 85-77 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (73), Porter Ridge still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Porter Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ashanti Taylor. Despite the final result, she scored 32 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Taylor scored a full 41.6% of Porter Ridge's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miley Malcolm, who scored 19 points along with 9 rebounds.
Porter Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for North Mecklenburg, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Porter Ridge will square off against East Mecklenburg at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully East Mecklenburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday. North Mecklenburg won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mooresville at 3:00 p.m. on November 25th.
