Basketball Recap: Brownsburg Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Westfield

On Friday, Brownsburg faced Westfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Brownsburg Bulldogs came out on top against the Westfield Shamrocks by a score of 45-36. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Brownsburg was led to victory by Avery Gordon and Elle Mcculloch. Gordon dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds, while Mcculloch posted 11 points along with five assists and four steals. Gordon is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last seven games she's played. Claire Miller was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Several Shamrocks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Makayla Hatcher, who went 5 for 11 en route to 11 points. Another player making a difference was Meg Hamilton, who had ten points.

Brownsburg is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Westfield, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-8.

Brownsburg has already played their next match, a 73-32 win against Terre Haute North Vigo on the 25th. As for Westfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-31 victory against Ben Davis on the 28th.
