The Higbee Tigers came tearing into Saturday's matchup with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 76-48 win over North Callaway at home. Higbee has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.
When it comes to explaining why North Callaway lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sam Pezold. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isiah Craighead, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Higbee's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.5 points per game. As for North Callaway, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Higbee has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on February 12th. As for North Callaway, they and the Wildcats will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wright City will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
