Dunn has gone a perfect 7-0 against Santa Clara recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Earwigs will host the Saints at 4:00 p.m. Dunn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Last Thursday, Dunn beat Villanova Prep 8-3. The Earwigs haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Brennan Johnson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Hudson Von Der Lieth was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Makoa Nabarro, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Santa Clara was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against Cate, falling 17-1. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 31, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Santa Clara's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Dunn, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Santa Clara's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dunn has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .474. It's a different story for Santa Clara, though, as they've only averaged .313. Will they be able to contain Dunn's hitters?
Dunn took their victory against Santa Clara in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 22-2 score. Do the Earwigs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Saints turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
