The Mitchell Kernels will square off against the Harrisburg Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Mitchell: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Harrisburg has snatched up 18 consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Mitchell turned things around against Spearfish on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 12-1 win. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Kernels this season.
Rylee Jennings made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Jennings was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Mitchell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Harrisburg faced Washington in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Tigers lost 9-2 to the Warriors. The contest marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Brooklyn Haffey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. Jayci Olson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Harrisburg moved to 14-2 with that loss, which also ended their 14-game winning streak. As for Mitchell, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
Mitchell suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Harrisburg when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Kernels have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
