Softball Recap: Dodgeville Drops Season-High Score on Belleville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dodgeville). They put the hurt on the Belleville Wildcats with a sharp 18-0 win on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Ava Lord was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Dougherty, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Brienna Wasley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Dodgeville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Belleville only managed one hit.

Dodgeville's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Belleville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dodgeville will take on Prairie du Chien at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Belleville, they will square off against Columbus at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
