In other batting news, Makayla Stefanik was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aniya Harris, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Southwest Guilford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Western Guilford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They lost 16-0 to Northwest Guilford. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Hornets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Southwest Guilford's record is now 8-6. As for Western Guilford, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Southwest Guilford hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Western Guilford struggles in that department as they've averaged .357. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Southwest Guilford took their victory against Western Guilford in their previous matchup on March 7th by a conclusive 20-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southwest Guilford since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
