Terry Sanford is 2-8 against Pine Forest since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Terry Sanford made easy work of Westover and carried off a 17-6 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.
Meanwhile, Pine Forest won against Overhills last Tuesday with 17 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again last Wednesday. The Trojans beat the Jaguars by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 17-2. The win was nothing new for the Trojans as they're now sitting on three straight.
Mya Harris made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Harris was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gracie Miller, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Aaliyah Roche was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.
Pine Forest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Overhills only posted an OBP of .375.
Pine Forest's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Terry Sanford, their win bumped their record up to 4-8.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Terry Sanford has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .577. However, it's not like Pine Forest struggles in that department as they've averaged .511. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
