The Waverly Wolverines will square off against the Chenango Forks Blue Devils at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated after seven games, but that won't be the case come Friday.
On Saturday, Waverly was able to grind out a solid  win over Owego Free Academy, taking the game  14-7. Given the Wolverines' advantage  in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the River Hawks are ranked 64th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

 Waverly's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Ben Shaw, who rushed for 22 yards and a pair of  scores, and also threw for 156 yards  on nine of 16 attempts. An impressive showing, but  Shaw really ramped things up playing D: he picked up  a  sack and made 13 total tackles.  Cooper Robinson helped out on the ground, rushing for 87 yards.
 Meanwhile, Chenango Forks humbled  Whitney Point with  a  43-14 victory. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 23  points or more this season.
 Chenango Forks' win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Waverly, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 7-0.
 Waverly came up short against Chenango Forks when the teams last played  back in November of 2024, falling  39-35. Can the Wolverines avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
