The Roane County Raiders will head out to square off against the Gilmer County Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Roane County's win against Wirt County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Raiders skirted past the Tigers 5-4. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Reis Thornabar was excellent, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-2. Alex Richardson also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Roane County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Gilmer County hadn't done well against Ravenswood recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Titans blew past the Red Devils 11-1. Considering the Titans have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Jacob Stewart spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Gilmer County let Kolten Holbert and Remington Huffman run wild. Holbert went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Huffman went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most doubles Holbert has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Seth Stewart, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Roane County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Gilmer County, their record now sits at 7-0.
Roane County couldn't quite get it done against Gilmer County when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 9-6. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
