Logan Horning was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Hoffert, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Cocalico hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Garden Spot struck out 13 times.
Meanwhile, Hempfield came tearing into Monday's matchup with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Tornados with a sharp 17-6 victory. Considering the Black Knights have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Alex Wimmer looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Camden Hulock was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Logan Dougherty, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Cocalico's win bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Hempfield, their victory bumped their record up to 16-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cocalico has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hempfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
