Softball Recap: Lemont Picks Up 15th Straight Win at Home

Lemont waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Thornton Fractional South Red Wolves a 13-0 shutout. The Lemont HS might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Claire Podrebarac made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Ania Liptak was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mila Mardjetko, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Lemont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .692. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.

Lemont pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Thornton Fractional South, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.
