The Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 35-14 loss at the hands of Silver Lake. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Heartland Lutheran has scored all season.
Several Red Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brielle Saddler, who scored six points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Heartland Lutheran struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Heartland Lutheran's defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.9 points per game. As for Silver Lake, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heartland Lutheran will square off against Franklin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Silver Lake, they will head out on the road to face off against Harvard at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
