After flying high against the Thomas Jefferson Spartans on Thursday, the Bear Creek Bears came back down to earth. Bear Creek fell to Longmont 38-34. Bear Creek lost against Longmont in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 53-50 score last time.
Despite the loss, Bear Creek still got an impressive performance from Olivia Kan, who scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Kan scored 15 or more points. Sarai Jallow was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Longmont's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Stella Rulon, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Kaila Patterson, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Bear Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Longmont, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bear Creek won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Evergreen at 10:00 a.m. on December 16th. Evergreen presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bear Creek in Colorado (Evergreen is ranked 13th, while Bear Creek is ranked 146th). Longmont won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Thomas Jefferson at 1:00 p.m. on December 16th. Hopefully Thomas Jefferson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
