Erie has gone a perfect 5-0 against Longmont recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Tigers will take on the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Erie has four straight victories, Longmont has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Erie got the win against Skyline by a conclusive 10-1. Considering the Tigers have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kaden Bertsch looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Austin Muir, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Kyler Colbert also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Erie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Skyline only posted a batting average of .091.
Meanwhile, Longmont lost 10-3 to Fairview on Tuesday.
Collin Pool was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Magley, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.
Longmont's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Erie, their record now sits at 14-5.
Longmont's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Erie hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. It's a different story for Longmont, though, as they've only averaged .259. Will they be able to contain Erie's hitters?
Erie came out on top in a nail-biter against Longmont in their previous meeting back in May of 2022, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
