Their game last Friday wasn't at all kind to Newport, but their most recent game may have softened the blow. They were fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Siuslaw 60-16. That result was just more of the same for Newport, who also won the last time these teams played.
The win bumped Newport's record up to 2-1. Siuslaw are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-3.
Next week Newport take on Philomath/Alsea at 7:00 PM. Both teams are strolling into their matchup after big wins in their previous games. Siuslaw will have some time to rest before their next contest, which is against Harrisburg in two weeks at 7:00 PM.
