The Mora Rangers/Rangerettes lost against the Penasco Panthers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Mora was outmatched by Penasco on the road and fell 54-15. Mora has not had much luck with Penasco recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Penasco was led to victory by Analise MacAuley and Rochelle Lopez. MacAuley scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks, while Lopez scored 16 points along with six steals and five assists. Lopez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Charnelle Gonzales, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Mora's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-13. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.0 points per game. As for Penasco, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mora will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Questa at 5:30 p.m. on February 15th. As for Penasco, they will square off against McCurdy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
