The Worth County Tigers will look to defend their home court on Friday against the West Nodaway Rockets at 6:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Worth County has struggled recently with 15 defeats in a row, while West Nodaway will arrive with three straight wins.
While Worth County couldn't quite beat Rock Port on Tuesday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 26-point defeat they were dealt last Tuesday. Worth County fell just short of Rock Port by a score of 36-34. While losing is never fun, Worth County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 495th, while Rock Port is ranked 178th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kynah Steele, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kristen Tracy, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Worth County were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
In what's become a running theme this season, West Nodaway gave their fans yet another huge victory on January 8th. They claimed a resounding 78-32 win over South Holt at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win West Nodaway has posted yet this season.
Worth County dropped their record down to 0-14 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for West Nodaway, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Worth County against West Nodaway in their previous matchup back in February of 2020 as the team secured a 79-30 victory. With Worth County ahead 50-10 at the half, the game was all but over already.
