MIDDLETOWN, Del. - A 22-point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter didn't slow down
Middletown (Del.) as it put 14 more points on the scoreboard to secure its victory over Newark (Del.) 49-13.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Darius Wade to
Chris Godwin in the first quarter, the Cavaliers led 14-6 at the half.
Middletown expanded its lead to 22 points entering the fourth quarter. MHS scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown.
Wade and Godwin teamed up to form a dynamic passing combination. Godwin caught three touchdowns and Wade threw five. Godwin has now caught three touchdowns this season, while Wade has thrown five.
The Cavaliers had given up an average of 6.6 points prior to the contest.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 41-6 win for Middletown.
