Barrington has gone 8-1 against Elk Grove recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Barrington got a great performance from Jack Postma as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Postma a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tommy Abbatemarco, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Elk Grove and Rolling Meadows, and Elk Grove kept the tradition alive. The Grenadiers came out on top against the Mustangs on Wednesday by a score of 4-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Grenadiers have posted since May 22, 2024.
Isaac Santowski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Cooper Casterton was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Elk Grove is 2-1 when Casterton posts two or more runs, but 0-8 otherwise.
With the win, Elk Grove broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-9. As for Barrington, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3-1.
