Softball Recap: North Sets Scoring Season-High Against Mojave

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North). They were the clear victors by a 22-1 margin over the Mojave Mustangs on Friday. The Stars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by six runs or more this season.

Mollie McKinley made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). McKinley was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katherine Leask, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie De Leon, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and four runs.

North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 25 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win was the third in a row for North, bringing their record up to 16-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mojave, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North will take on South at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Mojave, they will face off against Lone Pine at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
