Basketball Recap: Dunedin Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Dunedin waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 80-61 victory over the Pinellas Park Patriots. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 64-51 back in December of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dunedin to victory, but perhaps none more so than SHERWIN SIMMONS, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 boards. With that strong performance, SIMMONS is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. JALEN JACKSON was another key player, going 9 for 16 on his way to 23 points and eight assists.

Dunedin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 21 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Loss or not, Pinellas Park got some senior leadership from Gregory Chaney and Devonte Hunter. Chaney went 8 of 19 en route to 22 points along with six assists and six rebounds, while Hunter went 8 for 19 on his way to 24 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chaney has scored all season. Adrian Montano also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Dunedin's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.3 points per game. As for Pinellas Park, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.

Dunedin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-49 defeat against Canterbury on the 18th. Pinellas Park has also already played their next matchup (against Boca Ciega), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
