The NCSSM: Durham Unicorns scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 59-42 win over East Wake Academy. NCSSM: Durham pushed the score to 46-26 by the end of the third, a deficit East Wake Academy cut but never quite recovered from.
Ethann Burkett was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with five assists and five steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Arthur Zhao, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
The win makes it two in a row for NCSSM: Durham and bumps their season record up to 7-8. As for East Wake Academy, they dropped their record down to 9-9 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. NCSSM: Durham won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Raleigh Charter at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Raleigh Charter has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5. As for East Wake Academy, they will be playing at home against Falls Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
