A well-balanced attack led the York Dukes over the Northwest Vikings in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. York strolled past Northwest with points to spare, taking the game 50-31. The win was nothing new for York as they're now sitting on three straight.
York's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lainey Portwine, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Portwine has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiersten Portwine, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kyla Sybrandts, who scored five points along with five rebounds. Haylee Brandt was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two blocks.
York now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Northwest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.
York will be playing in front of their home fans against Elkhorn North on Friday. As for Northwest, they will head out on the road to face off against Aurora at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Aurora focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
