Basketball Recap: Carver's Loss Ends 11-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Carver was riding high fresh off their 60-11 takedown of Jordan last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Carver Tigers lost 76-55 to the Sumter County Panthers on Friday. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2020.

When it comes to explaining why Carver lost, don't look at Kayden Cooper. Despite the final result, she posted 20 points. Cooper has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Janyla Russ was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Carver's loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-8. As for Sumter County, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6.

Carver didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-40 win against Shaw on the 20th. As for Sumter County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 44-38 victory against Spencer on the 18th.
