Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Breckenridge

Breckenridge hadn't done well against Coleman recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Huskies were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Comets. Winning may never get old, but the Huskies sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Leah Wale was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Emma Tinson was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April. Ava Colthorp was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Breckenridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .447. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Breckenridge's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Coleman, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Breckenridge will take on Alma at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.25 runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Coleman, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 12-6 loss against Gladwin on the 3rd.
